On Friday, fellow rapper Sexxy Red released her song “U My Everything” featuring Drake. And while the two of them collaborating isn’t new, what makes this particular feature notable is that during part of his verse—Drake raps over Metro Boomin’s diss beat “BBL Drizzy” in an attempt to flip the accusations of him having ab surgery on its head. For context, “BBL Drizzy,” was the name given to the “Started From the Bottom” rapper by Rick Ross when he entered the chat in the beef and accused him of getting cosmetic surgery.
U My Everything
Per Drake in “U My Everything”:
“Me and the surgeon got history / I changed a lot of girls’ lives for real, they need a new body, they hittin’ me.
BBL Drizzy, they want a new body, they ask me for it / The last one drunk, he did it for free ’cause I sent over so many passports for him, for real.”
In essence, this weeks old response to a song, or rather and fire-ass instrumental, is supposed to be an Uno reverse. A “gotcha” of sorts. A “you can’t make fun of me if I make fun of myself first”-type of power play.
But if I’m honest—it just comes across as an *insert Kanye West shrug*
Because at this point, there have been 50-leven versions of “BBL Drizzy” all over the internet, people are screaming “O-V-HOE” at the functions every two business days and summer hasn’t even started yet.
I get it Drake, you wanted to show you’re un-phased and keep the chatter about who’s really on top going. That’s fantastic. But unfortunately for you, the rest of us have already dubbed a winner. This beef is cooked. Time to let it go.
