Pop sensation Aubrey “Drake” Graham’s recent move to Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates has sent the neighborhood into a frenzy. After residing in the Hidden Hills gated community for the past decade, Drake seems to be temporarily renting in the 90210 area. Speculation arises: could a permanent relocation be on the horizon? With The Weeknd recently making a similar move, what might be holding Drake back?
The native Canadian is well known for his obsession with opulent homes. According to reports, his Toronto mansion is 50,000 square feet, and his Hidden Hills estate comprises of three connected houses. The equally opulent Beverly Hills rental home was built this year on spec by the world-renowned architecture firm SAOTA. The dining room, a semi-subterranean courtyard, and a 20-foot stone waterfall all flow around a 15-foot tall olive tree that was transported from Italy and placed by a 15-person crew using a crane. The waterfall descends from an external moat.
The price of all of this drɑma is high. Because the finishes and design use natural elements, such the centerpiece olive tree and the waterfall, the house was promoted as a “natural” home. Although the mansion has a nɑme, “Elementi,” it is no longer available for sale, thus it is unclear how much Drake is paying to stay there.
According to public records, the half-acre property was last sold for $15 mιllιon in 2014 and is located on a prominent Trousdale elevation. The current residence was built on spec for the home’s owner, an LLC connected to billionaire Chinese film producer and art collector Wɑng Zhongjun, by Luxford Investment Group, a high-end development company run by real estate agent Michael Chen.
Drake’s Instagram photographs and “stories” from the contemporary castle show that he seems happy with his new quarters. The 18,000-square-foot home includes a separate “catering” kitchen with Viking appliances, a sinuously curved spiral staircase, a movie theater, custom Minotti furniture, and an all-custom kitchen with pricey Gaggenau appliances and a marble island.
The private owner’s apartment has a store-sized closet/dressing area, two bathrooms made of exotic species of marble, and a 400-square-foot private balcony with a jacuzzi that gives the impression that it is hung above the hillside below.
