Drake and Kendrick Lamar have some beef....

This is an editorial piece. An editorial, like a news article, is based on fact but also shares opinions. The opinions expressed here are solely those of the author and are not associated with our newsroom.

SALT LAKE CITY — The price of beef is too high and the biggest stars of hip-hop don’t seem to understand. There’s a new rap war between two of the biggest stars in the industry. So strong is the seething hate between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, that I’m talking about it on KSL.

Between them, these stars have released eight different diss tracks. Hastily constructed insult songs that cut so deep, even their mamas can feel the heat.

There’s Drake, a pop superstar with his own 767 who just popped a song accusing Kendrick Lamar of sexual assault, misogyny and more

Meantime Kendrick Lamar is the poet laureate of rap. He’s calling Drake a sellout, and questioning his manhood.

Everybody in hip-hop is choosing sides. Team Kendrick or Drake — and it’s ugly. Even devolving into gunshots outside Drake’s mansion the other night. Now before you go all Becky and criticize these rap guys — let’s remember Taylor Swift does diss tracks trashing boyfriends, and most recently, one Kim Kardashian

Taylor knows that Mozart never had beef with Beethoven but since then artists have discovered money and fame to be found in vicious musical insults. But as anybody around in the 90s might remember, rap beef has gone bad left Tupac dead and Biggie Smalls the subject of a song about his murder.

So, if you’re so inclined, grab the popcorn and enjoy this rap war, just remember what artists Bon Jovi and Queen seemed to realize. Sometimes the price of beef is too high.
