Tiffany Haddish reveals if she’s bothered by ex-boyfriend Common moving on with Jennifer Hudson – as she dishes on their past romance

Tiffany Haddish recently dished on her former romance with Common and revealed if she’s bothered by him moving on with Jennifer Hudson.

The comedian weighed in on her ex’s new relationship while promoting her new memoir I Curse You With Joy on the Making Space With Hoda Kotb podcast this week.

When asked if Common was in her book, the Girls Trip star joked, ‘There’s a lot of common men in there,’ which got a few laughs from Kotb, before she clarified, ‘But he’s not in there.’

The Los Angeles native added, ‘I’ve learned everybody don’t have to be in your story. Let them tell it.’

‘It was a great relationship,’ she would confess of Common, and then reiterate, ‘That was a great relationship.’

From there, Kotb wanted to know whether she was bothered by Common (born Lonnie Rashid Lynn) moving on to Hudson after their romance ended.

‘No, I love Jennifer Hudson,’ Haddish quickly responded, and then proceeded to offer up her well-wishes. ‘I hope they’re having fun. Girl, please.’

Haddish, 44, first met Common, 52, when they co-starred in the movie The Kitchen (2019), although initially their relationship remained platonic.

They would end up taking things to the next level in August 2020 when they began dating.

But then, seemingly out on nowhere, the rapper broke it off with Haddish in 2021.

‘It was weird how it ended,’ Haddish said, before using a metaphor to explain what happened: ‘Remember when you were a kid and you would be on a play date and y’all are playing and having a good time?’

‘And then all of a sudden y’all sliding down a slide and you turn around and go, “Where did they go?’ she shared. ‘And you see them like waving at you and their momma is carrying them and they’re like, “Bye.” That’s what it was like.’

‘I’m like, hey, we were playing and having fun,’ The Afterparty star continued. ‘Why did you stop the fun? I don’t know.’

Haddish made it clear that there was no bad blood with Common in the wake of his romance with Hudson, 42; the couple are pictured in September 2017 when things were still platonic

Haddish maintained the former couple had quietly gone their separate ways as of August 2021.

‘It wasn’t mutual,’ she told The Washington Post of their breakup. ‘It was more him saying, “I think this relationship has run its course.”‘

Common and Hudson are starring together in the science fiction thriller Breathe, which was released in limited theaters on April 26.

Directed by Stefon Bristol who worked from a screenplay from Doug Simon, the cast also features Milla Jovovich, Quvenzhané Wallis, Sam Worthington, Raúl Castillo and Dan Martin.

The celebrity couple first sparked rumors of a romance in 2022 when they were reportedly seen together in Philadelphia and Chicago, as reported by People.

Following more speculation the next year, the couple ended up confirming their relationship when Common appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show this past January.

Haddish has been busy promoting her new memoir I Curse You With Joy

As part of the promotion for her new book I Curse You With Joy, Haddish showed off her ability to provoke thought with a heavy dose of attitude in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 11

‘I’m in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life,” the Chicago, Illinois native said without mentioning the talk show host, actress and singer by name. ‘She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she’s talented.’

Haddish’s new book I Curse You With Joy, an essay collection, officially dropped in March, and then was followed by the hardcover version on May 7.

As part of the promotion, Haddish showed off her ability to provoke thought with a heavy dose of attitude in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on May 11.

‘I want to say thank you to anyone that is talking about me in any kinda way. You make me important enough in your life to talk about me and that is truly a honor. Thank God that you are on this planet and I curse you with joy.’
