Eminem, the iconic rapper known for hits like “Lose Yourself,” recently celebrated a significant milestone in his life – 16 years of sobriety. Taking to Instagram, the artist shared a photo proudly displaying a sobriety chip, symbolizing his journey towards recovery.

The image showcased a coin adorned with the number 16 inside a triangle, surrounded by the words “Unity,” “Service,” and “Recovery” inscribed in a circle.

Eminem, born Marshall Mathers III, received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities in the comments section of his post.

Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg congratulated Eminem, dubbing it a “Sweet 16,” while Em’s brother Nathan Samra-Mathers expressed pride, calling him the “Greatest Influence and Mentor.”

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Matthew Cooke also chimed in, praising Eminem’s achievement with a heartfelt message.

Eminem’s journey to sobriety has been well-documented, with the rapper openly discussing his past struggles with substance abuse and alcohol.

In 2007, he faced a life-threatening overdose after consuming a massive dose of methadone, a pivotal moment that compelled him to make significant changes in his life.

Following his near-death experience, Eminem committed to a sober lifestyle and embarked on a journey to reclaim his health.

In a 2015 interview with Men’s Journal, he revealed his battle with addiction to drugs like Vicodin, Valium, Ambien, and methadone, which led to significant weight gain and health issues.

Describing his transformation post-rehab, Eminem shared his discovery of running as a means to maintain sobriety and improve his well-being.

He credited running for providing a natural endorphin high and aiding in his sleep, ultimately helping him “function sober.”

During his weight loss journey, Eminem humorously referred to himself as a “f–ing hamster,” detailing his rigorous treadmill routine, which included running an astonishing 17 miles per day.

In 2022, Eminem reflected on his 2007 overdose during his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, further underscoring the significance of his journey towards recovery.

Eminem’s inspiring story serves as a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of seeking help in overcoming addiction.

As he continues to inspire others with his music and personal journey, his 16 years of sobriety stand as a beacon of hope for those facing similar struggles.
