Patrick Mahomes was very complimentary of Taylor Swift in a recent interview with Time magazine, where he praised her for being knowledgeable about football.
Travis Kelce’s relationship with pop star Taylor Swift took the league by storm last season.
Not only did Swift attend a lot of Kelce’s games, but she also became friendly with his Kansas City Chiefs teammates, including Patrick Mahomes.
In an interview with Time magazine, Mahomes spoke about Swift’s presence with the team and his friendship with her.
Patrick Mahomes Praises Taylor Swift in Recent Interview
Kelce and Swift’s storyline started all the way back when he attended one of her concerts and attempted to meet her.
However, the two sides didn’t end up meeting and he took to his podcast to share the story.
That then caught the attention of Swift and started what would be the relationship taking over the sports world.
The Chiefs were already going to be under the spotlight as reigning Super Bowl champions, but Swift’s relationship with Kelce and attendance at Kansas City’s games brought even more attention to the team last season.
Clearly, it didn’t matter as the team ended up winning another Super Bowl, and Mahomes was very complimentary of Swift.
“I’ve met a lot of famous people now in my life,” Mahomes said in an interview with Time Magazine after being named to their Most Influential People of 2023 list. “Taylor’s probably the most down-to-earth person that’s been on that stage for that long.”
It was after their game against the Chicago Bears in Week 3 when Kelce introduced Mahomes to Swift.
Now? Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, is a great friend of Swift’s.
Swift’s appearances made the Chiefs even more popular than before, expanding their fan base to “Swifties” around the world. According to Time, Patrick Mahomes credits Swift’s fan base with the Chiefs’ ascension from being a “nationwide team” to a “full global worldwide team.”
Many people believed her being around would be a distraction to the team, but Mahomes said it was the opposite. “We just embraced it,” Mahomes said. “We like having that visibility.”
Swift was in attendance for all of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run, even with her Eras Tour in full swing, taking across the globe, she still made it in time to watch, including flying from Japan to Las Vegas to attend the Super Bowl. After? She headed right back to her tour, where Kelce eventually joined her following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.
