About LiveTrue News World

Solution-first, fact-checked global news, now in its launch edition.

LiveTrue News World is a news site built around a simple idea: readers deserve reporting that is rigorous about problems and equally rigorous about responses. Most news coverage is very good at describing what has gone wrong. It is far less consistent at following a story to the point where someone tries to fix it, measures whether the fix worked, and says honestly where it fell short. That second half of the story is the part we want to make routine.

What we mean by solution journalism

Solution journalism is not good-news-only reporting and it is not cheerleading. A solutions story names a problem, examines a specific response to it, looks at the evidence that the response works, and states its limits. If a clean-energy project has an unresolved cost problem, the story says so. If a community program works in one town but may not travel, the story says that too. We aim for the clarity of a serious magazine, with headlines that carry weight rather than alarm.

How the site is organized

  • Desks: World & Peace, Climate Solutions, Science & Tech, and Culture & Hope, plus a Top Stories page that gathers everything.
  • The public fact ledger: a running list of claims, verdict labels and a five-step Veracity Meter that shows how a check turned out.
  • The Solutions Desk and Impact Radar: pages that group stories by the kind of problem being addressed and the stage a response has reached.
  • Live Desk: a newest-first timeline of everything published, with a browser read-aloud briefing.

This is a launch edition

We want to be direct about where we are. The stories on this site are illustrative scenarios written to show how the newsroom will work: the format, the labelling, the way limits are stated. They are not reports of real events, and the people, projects and organizations in them are fictional. Every story carries a label saying so. Bylines are illustrative desk personas rather than real staff, and the fact-check entries in the ledger are fictional samples.

We think this is the honest way to launch. A new publication that invented an audience, awards, partners or a track record would be starting with the very habit we exist to push against.

What works today and what is coming soon

Working now: search across every story, bookmarks saved on your own device, a light and dark theme, browser read-aloud for stories and a short briefing, RSS feeds, and an email-app contact form. Not available yet: member accounts and sign-in, payments or donations, the Morning Spark email, audio archives, a live radio stream, and mobile apps. Each of those pages tells you plainly that it is coming soon, so nothing here pretends to be more than it is.
