This is a draft privacy policy for the launch edition of LiveTrue News World. It describes what the site does and does not do with information today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be reviewed before the site is used beyond this launch edition.
The short version
There are no accounts, no advertising networks and no tracking pixels on this site. Things you choose to save, such as bookmarks or your color theme, stay in your own browser and are not sent to us.
What is stored on your device
- Bookmarks: the list of stories you save is kept in your browser's local storage.
- Theme: your choice of light or dark mode.
- Morning Spark interest: if you type an email address into a newsletter box, it is kept in local storage on your device only. It is not transmitted to us, because no mailing list exists yet.
You can remove all of this at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.
Forms that open your email app
The contact form does not send anything from the website. It prepares a message in your own email program addressed to the editorial contact address. Whatever you send then travels by your email provider, and our reading of it is covered by that message only. Please do not send passwords, financial details or sensitive documents by email.
Third-party resources
To display pages properly, your browser requests fonts and icon files from Google Fonts and a styling library from a public content delivery network. Those providers can see technical information your browser sends with any request, such as your IP address and browser type, under their own policies. We do not control that information. Self-hosting these files is a future improvement.
Read-aloud
The Listen buttons use the speech feature built into your browser. The text is read by your device and, depending on your browser, may be processed by your operating system's speech service. We do not receive it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Future changes
When accounts, a newsletter list or payments are introduced, this policy will be rewritten to explain what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and how to request deletion, before any such feature goes live.
