LiveTrue News World does not have an iOS or Android app. We are saying this clearly because it is easy to put a store badge on a website and let readers assume the product exists. It does not, and no app is listed in any app store under our name.
Use it on your phone today
The website is built for small screens. It has a bottom navigation bar, a scrollable row of section links, a menu drawer and a layout that adjusts to phones, tablets and desktops. For many readers, that is all an app would offer, with the advantage that there is nothing to install and nothing to update.
Ways to keep it close
- Bookmark the site in your browser or add it to your home screen using your browser's menu. Where your phone supports this, it gives you an icon that opens the site directly.
- Save stories using the bookmark button, and open the Saved page when you want them again.
- Use read-aloud through the Listen buttons while you walk or commute.
- Follow with RSS in a feed reader app of your choice.
Why we are not building an app yet
An app is a long-term commitment: it needs development, testing on many devices, store reviews, updates and support. The newsroom does not yet exist, and building an app before there is real content would be a distraction. We would rather make the website excellent, then consider an app if readers ask for features a website cannot provide.
What an app might add
If we build one, we would expect it to offer offline reading and optional notifications. We would also aim to keep it light on permissions and free of trackers, in line with our privacy principles. None of this is a promise or a schedule.
Beware of lookalikes
If you search an app store and find something using our name, treat it with care. It is not ours unless this page says so. We will update this page the moment anything real is released.
Tell us what you want
What would you want from an app that this site does not already do? Write to [email protected], a placeholder address for the launch edition. Specific suggestions help us decide what to build and what to leave alone.
