Live Desk
There is no live stream; the Live Desk is a newest-first timeline with a browser read-aloud briefing.
21 stories on the timeline
The Live Desk is the part of the site that shows what has been published most recently. It is called live because it updates as stories are added, not because there is a camera, a radio station or a streaming broadcast behind it. There is no live stream on LiveTrue News World, and we do not want any button or label to suggest otherwise.
What you will find here
- A read-aloud briefing: a short audio summary generated by your browser's own speech voice from three stories.
- A timeline: every launch-edition story listed newest first, grouped by day, with its desk and a short summary.
How to read the timeline
Times shown on the timeline are in Coordinated Universal Time, a single reference time that does not change with the seasons. The page converts them into a relative form, such as "40m ago", when it loads in your browser. Because the launch edition is made of illustrative scenarios, the times are placeholders that show how the layout will work once stories are published in real time.
How updates will work later
When real reporting starts, developing stories will be updated in place with a visible note describing what changed and when. We will add a dated update line instead of silently rewriting a story. If something has been corrected, the Public Corrections Ledger will explain it.
About the briefing
The briefing button reads out the headlines and standfirsts of three stories using a voice on your device. It is not a recorded show and has no host. Quality depends on your device, and some browsers do not support speech at all. If yours does not, the button will tell you.
What we do not show
We do not show listener counts, live viewer numbers or "tuning in" figures, because we have no way of measuring them and would not invent them. We also do not display live data feeds such as weather, energy output or market indexes. If those appear in the future, they will name their source.
Prefer another way to follow?
You can subscribe to the RSS feed for the whole site or a single desk, browse the Top Stories page, or search for a region or topic. If you want a faster way to see what is new, the timeline below is it.
The launch-edition briefing
Your browser reads three stories aloud with its own built-in voice. There is no live stream or radio station yet.
