Sending a tip
A useful tip is specific. Tell us what the response or development is, where it is happening, who is involved, and why you believe it works or does not. Mention any documents or data we can examine, and say how we can verify your account. Tips about solutions to real problems, including projects that struggled, are as welcome as tips about success. Because this is a launch edition, we may not be able to act on a tip immediately, but we do read what arrives.
Reporting an error
If something in a story looks wrong, include the story title, the sentence in question and a source that supports your view. A clear pointer is far more useful than a long argument. See the Public Corrections Ledger page for what happens next.
Safety and privacy
Email is not a secure channel. If you are sharing something that could put you or others at risk, do not rely on a plain email message, and do not send passwords, financial information or sensitive documents. We have no secure submission system yet, and we would rather say so than imply protection that does not exist.
What to expect
We cannot promise an answer to every message or a reply within a set time. We will read tips and correction reports and respond when we can add something useful. We do not offer payment for tips and we do not publish messages without permission.
