Independent, solution-focused journalism costs money to produce, and we have strong views about how it should be paid for. But in this launch edition there is nothing to buy, nothing to donate to and no payment form. This page explains the thinking behind our plans and keeps clear what is intention and what is available.
What is not available
There are no memberships, no donations, no gift options and no checkout on this site. We are not collecting card details, bank information or any other payment data. If you see a request for money that claims to come from LiveTrue News World, do not respond to it, and let us know.
The funding principles we intend to follow
- Reader support first: memberships and direct contributions from people who value the work.
- No behavioral advertising: no ad networks that follow readers around the web.
- No sponsored headlines: paid content, if it ever exists, would be clearly separate from reporting.
- Disclosure: we will publish who funds the newsroom and what influence, if any, they have.
These are principles, not a running business. Writing them down now makes them harder to abandon later.
Why we are not asking for money yet
Asking for support before there is real reporting to support would be putting the cart before the horse. The launch edition shows what the publication will look like; the honest next step is building the newsroom, and only then asking people to help pay for it.
What you can do right now
- Read critically. Tell us where a story falls short of the Editorial Standards or the Ethics Pledge.
- Send ideas. Suggest solutions worth examining and claims worth checking.
- Share carefully. If you share a launch story, mention that it is an illustrative scenario.
- Follow along. Use RSS or the Morning Spark page to hear about progress.
When support opens
When memberships are ready, this page will explain how they work, what they cost, how to cancel and how your information is handled. Until it does, treat any mention of support as a plan. Questions can go to [email protected], a placeholder address for the launch edition.
